Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by a variety of sources. They could run utilizing gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for various uses. There are various facilities which have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled whenever they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that are able to be changed out when the machinery must be refueled.
In order to prevent possible serious injury, certain precautions should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. Like for example: be sure to put on the correct safety equipment such as safety glasses or goggles and heavy gloves. Make sure that you turned off the forklift ignition prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is firmly closed. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Keep in mind that it would turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never utilize any kind of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
