The forklift driver must ideally be able to stand for an 8 hour shift. In nearly all work environments, they would be entitled to a half-hour lunch break and two short coffee breaks during the day. It is vital that the driver of the forklift not be prone to reckless driving or rage of any sort.
Training
Lift truck training is normally completed on the job. Training would often include safety and control training, which could be completed in different ways. These may include testing, videos and lectures. A performance test would also be done on the forklift. After the tests have been successfully done, a license can be issued. This license needs to be renewed according to shop procedures and according to state and provincial laws.
