Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to pile up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This model has telescopic forks designed to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one kind of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can increase production while making the most of available storage space.
